Stamford, Conn.-based Tasty Bite, maker of Indian ready-to-eat foods, has been named one of India's top 50 employers.

Top companies are determined by Great Place to Work Institute by surveying employees. More than 50,000 employees at 373 companies across a multitude of industries in India were surveyed. Tasty Bite employs more than 100 people at its Pune, India, production center. Employees ranked their employers on elements including credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

Meera Vasudevan, co-founder and executive vice president of product development and marketing for Preferred Brands International, the parent company of Tasty Bite, said this is the first year the company's employees have been included in the survey.

"Our employees are key in everything we do, from growing the vegetables for our products to working in the production center, lab or office, we strive to improve their quality of life," said Vasudevan.

Employees participate in literacy programs at Tasty Bite, and also have access to free periodic health care clinics held at the production center.

Tasty Bite offers all-natural entrees, rices and simmer sauces, all of which are ready to serve in about 90 seconds. The company will introduce five new entrees in the coming months.
