According to reports, Gurpreet Singh, 30, of Bangor, Maine and his father Harbhajan Singh, 65, were arrested in late July and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and criminal threatening after police responded to a domestic disturbance call. Singh and his father allegedly threatened to grab his one-month old daughter from her mother and throw her out the window in an argument about the sex of the baby. The police reported that the men were upset ever since the baby was born and was not a boy.
The men were released on bail and have an Aug. 22 hearing.

Gurpreet Singh works as a hospitalist at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
The center posted on its Web site a statement that it was aware of the allegations.
"Eastern Maine Medical Center is aware of the recent allegations against one of our newly hired employees. The employee, who brought the issue to our attention, denies the allegations and is confident he will be cleared of these charges when all of the facts come to light. EMMC is also closely following the police investigation and will take appropriate action, if action is warranted, when the investigation is concluded," the statement said.
